چکیده
Aim: To compare both techniques for operative & postop complications, operative time & hospital stay. Methods: This prospective study was conducted from February 2010 to June 2012. It included patients having reducible inguinal hernia, and fit for general anesthesia, operated by either TAPP or TEP technique. Type of the technique was decided by the surgeon, with patients consent. All intra operative and post operative complications, operative time and hospital stay were recorded. Results: One hundred twenty one patients were included in this study twelve patients have bilateral inguinal hernia. Total 133 inguinal hernia were repaired laparoscopically, 74(55.64%) hernia were repaired by TAPP and 59(44.36%) hernia by TEP technique. There was no mortality, and no major complication occurs during any technique. The operative time was longer in TEP (mean 55 minutes) then TAPP (mean 48 minutes) ‘P’ valve was 0.0001. Conclusion: TAPP have advantages over TEP technique. TAPP technique having less complications rate and shorter operative time.

Background: Laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal (TEP) repair is preferred over transabdominal preperitoneal hernia repair (TAPP) as the peritoneum is not violated and there are fewer intra-abdominal complications. This is undoubtedly the most elegant technique, but more difficult to perform. The purposes of this study were to describe and discuss our techniques and the modifications of using 3...

Inguinal hernia (IH) repair can be obtained with both open and laparoscopic techniques, which are usually performed using a transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) or a totally extraperitoneal (TEP) approach. The aim of the study was to evaluate whether the results of laparoscopic TEP IH repair in the elderly (≥65 years old) are different with respect to results obtained in younger patients. One hu...

Laparoscopic hernia repair has all the advantages of a tension free repair. This study compares the laparoscopic transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) approach with tension-free open hernia repair in terms of operative time, postoperative pain, hospital stay, complications, and cost. Open and TAPP repairs using polypropylene mesh were performed in two groups of 25 male patients. The difference in...
